Cheetahs come from the family of Felidae and sub family of felinae inhabiting most of Africa. Cheetahs are known to be the fastest animals on land as far as 112 to 120km covering a distance of 500m in a short burst. Cheetahs are unique felid with the closest living relatives being the jaguarondi and puma of the Americas.
Cheetahs are listed as vulnerable animals’ facing various threats from other carnivores and mankind. It is very difficult to different a cheetah from a leopard if it is your first time to see them. Cheetahs have black mark running from the corner of their eyes down to the nose with paws showing the blunt, semi retractable claws. They have deep chest with narrow waist and their short furs are tan with round black spots including their tails but there are no spots on its white underside. Their heads are small with high-set eyes. Their thin and fragile body makes them well suited for a short burst of high speed.
