The Best time to visit Kidepo National Park: Kidepo Valley National Park welcomes all Uganda safari travelers all year-round. But, the dry season is the best time in case you are to have exceptional sightings of Kidepo’s diverse animal species. Every year, Kidepo NP experiences 2 drier seasons that is June, July, August & December, January, February to March. During these drier months, there is scarce/no rainfall making it easier to enjoy game viewing as they confine in fewer water sources to take water.

The worst time to visit Kidepo National Park is during the wet or rainy season; April, May & September, November. These are the months Kidepo receives heavy rains. They are not favorable months for game viewing, the game paths & tracks can be muddy.

The best time to go visit Kidepo NP is from September to March. They are also the peak months of the year in Kidepo National Park. These are the best months to explore, experience game viewing, hiking, visit the Kanangorok hot springs, hike through Lomej Hills, Mt. Lonyili etc. The low/rainy/wet season starts from April, May-usually the period when some lodges and camps do cut on their accommodation prices.

The best weather conditions at Kidepo NP are experienced from September, October, November while the worst weather conditions often occur from December, January to February. It is usually hot & dry during the dry season which is notably the best for visiting Kidepo National Park for game viewing, hiking. It is normally very dry and dusty from December, January to February and you can experience this while on a guided game drive.

The available water sources also dry up during the drier months of the year and guarantees exceptional animal sightings. Most of Kidepo National Park water sources exist around the wetlands on the Southern Narus Valley. During the 2 hottest months-June & August, the temperatures rise up to 27.5 degrees celsius but vary from 21.5-34 degrees Celsius.

The wet season in Kidepo is usually characterized by light rains which gives possibility of game viewing to continue afterwards. Diverse migratory birds are often sighted during the wet season of the year. It is during the wet season when Kidepo Valley National Park features a lush vegetation and it is the most preferred time for bird watching especially if you are interested in sighting lots of migratory birds.
